Ella Dawson Foundation Launches Christmas Appeal to Support Young People Facing Cancer

The Ella Dawson Foundation has launched its 2025 Christmas Appeal with a heartfelt mission: to raise £4,000 to gift 400 young people facing cancer a Life Notes journal in the coming year.

The story behind the appeal began in 2020, when Ella Dawson was undergoing relentless treatment during the height of the pandemic. Shielding at home, life for Ella and her family felt consumed by cancer. During those long, isolating days, Ella and her sister Tasha turned to journalling as a way to cope - a place to put thoughts that had nowhere else to go.

Together, they created something that reflected their experiences: tools and techniques to help navigate the hardest moments. After Ella sadly passed away in 2021, the Ella Dawson Foundation was launched and published the Life Notes journal in her legacy.

Since then, more than 1,000 journals have been shared with young people and families across the UK. These journals have become a lifeline, helping young people feel less alone, process what’s happening, and find moments of calm in a time that feels completely out of control.

This Christmas, the Ella Dawson Foundation aims to gift 400 more young people a Life Notes journal. Each journal costs just £10 to produce and send. Supporters are invited to donate, become regular givers, or take part in the Foundation’s Christmas Jumper Day on December 12th.
