April is the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month, and we are launching a fundraising challenge to help raise funds and awareness of young adult cancer. 

The Challenge! Take on our 4693 Reasons to Move and walk 4,693 steps a day to support young people aged 18-30 living with cancer. 

Every year 4693 young people aged 15-29 years are diagnosed with cancer, one young person described to us ‘Being diagnosed with cancer as a young person feels like being out of sync with your generation. It is a misunderstood and isolating experience. It feels like being in another world - one that most people perhaps do not see.’ 

The Ella Dawson Foundation brings a community of young people facing cancer together. Our fantastic team of clinical psychologists, counsellors, exercise instructors, Dietitians and wellbeing practitioners provide specialised and tailored support to meet the unique needs of young people with cancer. Our Feel Well programme providing specialist mental health support to both young people with cancer and their families and carers is our largest service. Heartbreakingly, over 50% of those we have supported have reported severe symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma, following our support these symptoms are reported to be minimal showing the incredible impact and need of our programmes. This support has been described as life changing, regaining confidence, identity and purpose. We are proud to have young people’s voices at the heart of our charity, shaping everything we do, and it’s an honour to have so many of them with us this evening.

A fun and meaningful way to boost your wellbeing while supporting young people living with and beyond cancer. Steps can be completed individually, as a team or a business, join us for the whole of April or for just one day.
